PLAY THEATER'S WINTER 2024 PRODUCTION RUNS JAN 24TH AND 25TH, 2025!
Critically acclaimed on both the West End and Broadway, Groundhog Day is inspired by the hilarious film starring Bill Murray, and features a book by original co-screenwriter Danny Rubin, and music and lyrics by Tony Award nominee Tim Minchin (Matilda the Musical).
The cheery townsfolk of Puxatawny, PA are ready for their favorite Groundhog to predict an early spring. After disdainfully covering the rodent's negative forecast, Phil Connors, a seasoned big-city weatherman, awakens the next day only to discover it's February 2 again. And again. And again. Will Phil accept that he is doomed to repeat the same day over and over? Or will he find the courage to change himself and his fate?
Our Winter Musical accommodates ~50 kids, 2nd grade and older, and enrollment is first-come, first-serve. Roles are cast from that pool of 50, but everyone registered performs in the show. The cost is $390 per participant.
Auditions for specific roles will take place on November 4th. Performances are scheduled for January 24 & 25. The full schedule is available here. Shows are specifically chosen with featured roles for many kids.
Rehearsals and performances take place at duCret School of Art, a beautiful mansion and NJ's oldest art school located at 1030 Central Avenue in the historic, residential Van Wyck section of Plainfield.
Between now and the audition, we recommend taking the time to get to know the soundtrack very well.
