What would you sell your soul for?

Play Theater's annual musical takes place in late January every year. Registration is open now.

The Winter Musical accommodates about 50 children, 2nd grade and older, and enrollment is first-come, first-serve. (It typically sells out quickly!) Roles are cast from that pool of 50, but everyone registered performs in the show. Auditions for specific roles will take place on November 5th. Performances are scheduled for January 27 & 28. Shows are specifically chosen with featured roles for a lot of kids.

We are thrilled to announce our new home at duCret School of Art, a beautiful mansion and NJ's oldest art school located at 1030 Central Avenue in the historic, residential Van Wyck section of Plainfield.

Rehearsals will take place at Du Cret on Monday evenings and/or Saturday afternoons in November and December and then Sunday afternoons will be added in January. You will NOT be called for every rehearsal and will be asked to declare conflicts during the audition process so you do not need to be available all of those times every week, and we will do our best to accommodate conflicts. Please note that once conflicts are declared, we are very strict about adhering to them. Additional conflicts will likely cause a child to be removed from a scene/song and possibly from the show.

Between now and the audition, take time to get to know the broadway soundtrack very well. Then stay tuned for more information in the fall!  For more details, please check out our Q&A.

Please note that as our musical was written in 1954, some content deemed appropriate/humorous then may not be received in the same way now.  We will address and discuss this during the rehearsal process and approach our source material with candor, care, and creativity.

We can't wait to get started!
